Race 5 of the 2011 FCR Championship
The 5th race of the 2011 FCR Championship was held at Eddie’s Slot Car World on Sunday May 15th on the King track.
Another great and fun race was poorly attended by only a handful of the Sunday regulars! If you want to hone your skills without making a fool of yourself this may be the venue for you. FCR racing is a ton of fun and, yes, pigs do fly in this championship. In fact a number of them flew off the track at this event!
Tom Joseph took the win but Randy Tragni continues to lead the championship!
Tom Joseph took the win for 10 points! Tom drove a reasonable clean race and completed 224 laps as well as hashing in the fastest lap of the race at 6.03 on orange.
In second place was the South Bay’s own Randy Tragni with 222 laps (+8 points) and just 4/100ths of a second off of Tom’s fastest lap time. Randy set this lap on purple which was noted by Tom and others for being slippery all day.
Uncle Gary continues a phenomenal streak by taking 3rd place with 216 laps (+6). Uncle Gary seemed to have found a lot of speed recently (probably making lots of money for Eddie).
Fourth place went to Gary Klobas just a squeak back from Uncle Gary on the same lap, 216(+4).
New comer to the series Craig On took 5th place with 191 laps (+2).
Missing in action were regulars Captain Ernie, Durl, Sam Rock, Calvin and Chris Chakires
Points are awarded to the first six finishers:
10 points for first place, 8 points for second, 6 points for third, 4 points for fourth, 2 points for fifth, 1 points for sixth.
The Championship so far:
Randy Tragni pulls farther ahead with 30 (+8) points.
Chris Chakires with 20 points (no change).
Uncle Gary with 17 points (+6)
Tom Joseph with 16 points (+10)
Captain Ernie with 16 points (no change)
Gary Klobas with 15 points (+4)
Racer XXX (aka Calvin) with 14 points (no change)

Next Race is Father’s Day, June 19th at Eddie’s. Come on people, let’s race!
There was also a JK Hawk LMP race held on the Motherlode. The win was taken by Tom Joseph (142 laps), followed by Randy Tragni, Gary Klobas (both on lap 136), and Craig On (120).
