2011 MARE ISLAND 600
Eddie's Slot Car World
CHRIS CHAKIRES WINS
Sam Rock, Tom Josephs round out the podium.
A nice field of 11 racers turned out for this race, running 4.5" Flexis with 16D motors and vintage stocker bodies. After a readjustment due to computer glitching, there began a race full of thrills, spills and chills, with lots of flying cars and surprisingly tight racing.
It is never easy to beat Chris Chakires on his home track, and this race was no exception, but Sam Rock (driving a loaner from the Randy Tragni Racing garages) and Tom Josephs were not that far behind to take second and third, respectively. They were the only three racers to actually complete 600 laps, but the next four positions were pretty tight.
Here's how they finished:

SAM ROCK - 607
TOM JOSEPHS - 602
CAPTAIN ERNIE - 592
WOLF IMMEL - 589
RANDY TRAGNI - 574
DURL - 573
UNCLE GARY - 553

Yes, it is, Mr. Roonie. That is Uncle Gary's ride. And continuing left to right is Eric's nice car that looked brand new at the end of the race, somehow. Then there's Chris Chakires' slammed and aerodynamic Mercury, Gary Klobas' Challenger, the Tragni Motorsport's loaner driven by Sam Rock, Captain Ernie's beautiful Plymouth, Wolf's Torino, and Floyd's wacky Chevy, maybe?
