Frank, you are absolutely correct.
I know there are lots of slot racers out there with e-mail, but not enough of them use online forums to stay in touch or active among their pals. I also understand how the bigger boards like Slotblog, OWH, Slotforum, etc. can be too broad in scope, too focused on what's going on everywhere else, and either distracting or intimidating to the local/regional user.
I fully intend on promoting this forum both online as well as at tracks, hobby shops, events, and wherever else it makes sense to do so. I'll be making up some kind of poster/card/sticker thing to handout and post. I'll also be making up some that are personalized for each track. Something along the lines of:
Stay in touch with Slot Car Raceway at
Pit Space
the online community for Northern California Slot Racers
pitspace.freeforums.org
Or something to that effect.
I understand that promotion is the key to increasing participation. You seem to be the only NorCal track that really understands the importance of online community as a marketing tool, and the response you get on the other boards proves it. I hope other slot racing entities catch on soon.
Thanks for the post.
