Round 7 of the FCR Challenge

Postby durl » Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:16 pm

I just wanted to start this thread now so I can link to it from Eddie's web site. Randy has the lowdown and some good pix, and they'll be up on here soon, I'm sure.

I do know the Captain Ernie was first
Durl came in second
Mike Underhill took third.

More soon.

Randy's car really is the Adopt-A-Pet Malibu!

Round 7 of the FCR Challenge

July 11th marked the 7th round of the FCR Challenge race at Eddie’s Slot Car World. It’ hard to believe that the Championship is half way done.

The raceway was packed with racers, lots of spectators and bench racers. There were plenty of corner marshals and car spotters. For a Sunday afternoon, it was a full house. Competing were 9 contestants. Here’s how it played out.

For the second race in a row, Captain Ernie took the checkered flag first with 235 laps. That’s 10 more laps than last month’s race. Way to go Captain!
In second was Durl, bringing home 6 points. See, it pays to show up.
Mike U took 3rd with 220 laps.
Jeff took 4th place.
Uncle Gary took 5th place and also walked away with fastest lap of the race with a blistering 5.48. Go Uncle Gary!
In sixth place was Randy Tragni driving the Adopt a Pet Malibu with 213 laps, out for a short time due to a broken wire.
In a very rare occurrence, Tom Joseph came home in 7th place after obvious motor issues. Watch out next time.
Also having motor or car trouble were Sam Rock and Aussie Dan.
Missing in action was Gary Klobas…..

Here’s the results:

Capt Ernie: 235 laps
Durl: 222 laps
Mike U: 220 laps
Jeff: 216 laps
Uncle Gary: 214 laps
Randy: 213 laps
Tom Joseph: 208 laps
Sam Rock : 206 laps
Aussie Dan : 198 laps

The Championship Standing to date:
Sam Rock: 38 points (no change)
Randy Tragni: 23 points (+1)
Tom Joseph: 22 points (no change)
Captain Ernie: 21 point (+10)
Mike U: 17 points (+4)
Durl: 13 points (+6)
Gary Klobas: 13 points (no change)
Uncle Gary: 13 points (+2, +1 for fastest lap)
Gary Hooks: 11 points (no change)
Ted Essy: 10 points (no change)
Jeff: 3 points

There was also a hard body FCR race. See results posted elsewhere in Pitspace.

Additionally, an exploratory JK Hawk CanAm Race was run on the Motherlode. See results posted elsewhere in Pitspace.

Next FCR Championship Race is on August 8th.

There will be a supporting race for next month’s event on the Motherlode. See Eddie or Janet for car details!
