Race 10 of the 2011 FCR Championship at Eddie’s Slot Car Wor

Race 10 of the 2011 FCR Championship at Eddie’s Slot Car World.

Gary Hooks wins the October FCR Championship race at Eddie’s. Randy comes in 2nd and gets within 1 point of locking up the 2011 Championship. Almost a Champion! Close but not quite there yet. In 3rd place was veteran FCR racer Tom Joseph.

A pretty good turnout of six racers competed for the FCR Championship win and associated points of round 10. Many of the Sunday regulars were missing due to other commitments so the D3 guys filled up the grid and, I do believe, had an excellent time.

Congratulations to Gary Hooks for his win. Gary drove a clean race using a very well prepared car borrowed from Randy Tragni. Gary will get 10 points for driving fast as always to complete 231 laps on a track suffering power consistency issues. Gary also took fastest lap with a 5.769 on the Blue Line. In practice Gray ran a 5.4 using Randy’s car…… It’s always a pleasure Gary!

In second place was regular racer Randy Tragni with 218 laps and 8 more critical points. Randy had a clean (mostly) consistent race with only 2 trips on to the floor.

He was followed by Tom Joseph a couple laps back for third place with 216 laps (+6 points). Tom also did a hot 5.980 second lap on Green.

Randy Keil from Sacramento took a strong 4th place with 214 laps.

5th went to Jay Herrod (hope I got the last name right?).

Regular Sunday adversary Sam Rock brought home 1 point after mechanical issues sidelined his car for some during the race tuning.

Thanks to Russ Toy, Dick Seely and Eddie and Janet Wong for turn marshaling.

Points are awarded to the first six finishers:
10 points for first place, 8 points for second, 6 points for third, 4 points for fourth, 2 points for fifth, 1 points for sixth.

The Championship so far:
Randy Tragni keeps the lead with 64 (+8) points.
Tom Joseph with 45 points (+6)
Sam Rock with 27 points (+1)
Gary Klobas with 23 points (no change)
Racer X (aka Calvin) with 22 points (no change)
Uncle Gary Hoehn with 21 points (no change)
Chris Chakires with 20 points (no change).
Gary Hooks with 20 points (+10)
Captain Ernie Koepf with 16 points (no change)
