SunChaser Thingies Come to NorCal

Well it started in 2009 ... and it's STILL going!

After a lost summer in Switzerland, the Round-the-World proxy series is finally heading for Northern California.
BIGDADDYSLOTRAT will be in charge of holding a round or two of this series and, when the topic was last discussed, his plan was to run the cars at Eddie's with as many friends and helpers as are interested in joining the fun.

The cars are currently in St Louis, MO and will be in Harley's hot little hands before too long.
Monsieur SLOTRAT now has his own entry in the races complete with a chassis lovingly crafted by his own sweet self.

It may have been a long time coming but I'm hoping the SunChaser proxy series can help apply jumper cables to the long-standing Thingie tradition in NorCal.

No firm date for NorCal yet, Durl.
Agent '32 Deuce' Zimmerman has just run his first round on a mini-commercial style club track in St Charles, MO. He has a further two rounds to run in his local area and these will possibly take place on the next two consecutive weeks.

The plan is for the cars to then travel to Chicagoland Raceway. Mike Swiss is currently relocating his operation but still seems keen to run the cars in the 4-8 week time frame I suggested to him. He'll be starting a thread on that 'other' forum when his ducks are all in a proper line.

There's a small chance of a further round somewhere before the cars head for Harley. I originally had a round pencilled in to be held at Keystone Raceway but this was a year ago, before Mark Greene took himself off my personal radar. Last I heard, Keystone is either going to shut down or radically down-size in a new location.
I have someone in mind to approach about running a round at their track but, other than this small possibility, the cars will be heading straight to Stockton after Chicago.

And whatever is left when you're done with them will be off to Sydney, Australia afterwards ...

Mike Z. has done us proud with a great race report from his first race on SlotForum and he's even thrown some uncut race footage on to YouTube.
Nothing would give me, the other SunChaser entrants, and the whole Thingie Crew more pleasure that to see the NorCal gang, BIGDADDYSLOTRAT, Big Durl, The Vitter and Smokie reunited and having some fun with the cars. I'm hoping that can happen.
As long as the cars are taken care of, you guys have carte blanche to run them however and wherever pleases you.
Oh, but you do have to take plenty of photos and report back to us often!

Remember, whatever time it is,

It's always SunChaser O'Clock somewhere ...

Hokay.
It's 'heads up' time.

Howmet's Green Manalishi slaughtered us all in Chicago and the SunChaser cars are currently in Akron, OH.
The round at Route 93 Raceway is scheduled for 13th June, and the momentum seems to be building up nicely there. After this race the cars will FINALLY be on the way to BIGDADDYSLOTRAT in Stocktoon. It's been a long-a-time!

If the Strategic Planning Team in NorCal could touch base with the Forward Operations Squad, perhaps a date in Eddie's calendar towards the end of June or during July could be found?
I thank you.

The 'Q' is on,

Testing: 1, 2 ...
Testing: 1, 2 ...
(Is this thing working?)

The Ohio race is ON tomorrow and those guys are ready to party!
Mr Frank from Route 93 Raceway will be mailing the cars to Harley next Monday or Tuesday so the SunChasers should reach NorCal sometime around next weekend.

Time to get your tiaras and fluffy Mules on and fire up the 'Q'!

Steve.

Stevie, baby, I spoke to Eddie last night and he is down for the Sunchaser whenever we want to do it. We just need to check with him first (VERY important, as others can attest ;) ) as summer is his busiest time, event-wise.

End of July-ish seems the best shot at this point, but let's see what Harley and The VItter and other folks have to say. Once we nail down the date, I'll put up some posters and we'll see what happens.

I'm hoping this will whet people''s appetites for another thingee event later in the year. :?

Thanks, Durl.

Mr Frank at Route 93 Raceway put the cars in the post today.
Or rather his wife did it for him ... My kinda guy!
The cars should reach Harley around the middle of next week.

I don't know if you've checked to SlotForum SunChaser thread recently?
The Akron guys really got behind their round and made a big party of it. End of July for Eddie's sounds good to me.

The SunChaser cars, along with some new entries from Ohio, have arrived safe and sound in Stockton.
Harley has a misbehaving leg at the moment and is awaiting a replacement SD card for his camera. Aside from that, the recruitment drive for Thingie pilots at Eddie's is starting.

Let the fun and games begin!
